by Alan Wright Wildlife photography is reaching new levels at a Lancashire nature reserve with more than 80 pictures vying for the top prizes in its annual photographic competition. Last years Mere Sands Wood event set the bar high, but this years entries more than matched it. Ian McLeods Mists of Time (top) - a picture of a magnificent stag, won the UK category. Shaggy Ink Cap by Peter Smith won the Mere Sands Wood category. american pet products association Elliot Brockbanks Oystercatcher (above) took the junior prize The competition saw 37 adults and six juniors producing a total of 82 pictures; judge Jason Smalley said he had a difficult job choosing the winners. More than 25 people american pet products association attended the prize presentation at the reserve on Sunday, with prizes ranging from tokens to bird feeding equipment and supplies. Sponsors were Jason Smalley, Opticron, Red Barn, CW Berry, Whitehead and Aldrich, Rufford Veterinary Group, Wilkinson's Cameras, the Rufford Arms Hotel, Don Fraser Coaches, J Holland and Son and Homesteads Farm Shop.
