Schwartz’s experience as both a photographer and animal livestock supplies expert has given him an unmatched ability to create beautiful animal portraits, regardless of a pet’s temperament. “Working with animals has always been a passion of mine,” says Schwartz, who worked for several years as a Veterinary Technician, Dog Trainer and Dog Groomer.
For his first two decades livestock supplies as a professional photographer, Schwartz worked in a wide variety of areas, including fashion, livestock supplies photojournalism and family/child portraits, but it was his photos of animals that excited him—and his clients—the most. “People would tell me, ‘There’s no way you’re going to get my dog to hold still long enough to take a photo’,” he says. “But all my years working with animals gave me a special touch. I know how to soothe them, or pep them up—whatever’s needed to create the perfect image.”
About 10 years ago, Schwartz made a decision to combine his animal experiences with his photography and began to specialize in pet photography exclusively. In 2006, he opened Pets Photography Studio, where he works with all kinds of animals—everything livestock supplies from dogs and cats to birds, lizards, ferrets and even the occasional pet parent.
Through his associations with some of the world’s largest pet supply chain stores, Schwartz has photographed more pets than any other pet photographer in the country—more than 60,000. “I consider myself one of the luckiest guys in the world,” he says. “I’ve worked with animals for my entire career, and there is no greater joy imaginable. There’s never been a pet I couldn’t photograph, and I’ve loved every minute of it.”
Schwartz and his staff were the exclusive photography studio for the entire Tri-State region of 75 stores of the country’s second-largest pet supply chain since 2006. His move to Pet Supplies “Plus” began with the Long Island, NY area in early 2010 and has now expanded to their stores in New Jersey, Connecticut and Pennsylvania. “This is the start of an exciting new journey,” says Schwartz. “I’m so impressed with the knowledge, courtesy and professionalism of the staff at Pet Supplies “Plus,” and I’m also pleased that they are run by local people who own their stores. I’m proud to be part of their dedicated team.”
